PhilHealth UHC Campaign Logo Unveiled February 15, 2012

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently unveiled a logo to represent its corporate campaign dubbed "Race to Universal Health Care."

The winning entry depicts a spherical arc of tight-knit blue crosses over the image of a person gesturing approval which the designer describes as "offering protection and security to one’s health." It echoes PhilHealth’s battlecry towards UHC: "Bawat Pilipino, miyembro. Bawat miyembro, protektado. Kalusagan natin, segurado."

In describing the logo's elements, John Bermejo, the logo's designer, said the blue arc illustrates "protektado," the running man depicts "miyembro," and the thumbs-up sign refers to "segurado." He is affiliated with a Singapore-based advertising agency but entered the contest independently.

PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Eduardo P. Banzon said that "we had to put a face to our campaign towards the attainment of universal health care to ignite the passion among our employees and our stakeholders so that we can achieve our goal on time." Banzon added that the campaign logo will be used in all corporate collaterals related to the UHC campaign. "By pushing for the visibility of this campaign logo, we will constantly be reminded of our commitment to deliver better benefits, better services and better financial risk protection to our members," he said, adding that the campaign logo will also "embody our plans and strategies so that our members will not just be delighted in our services but are also well-informed of their entitlements as PhilHealth members."

The logo design contest, which ran from December 19, 2011 to January 16, 2012, gathered about 201 entries. It was open to all Filipinos, in groups or individuals including PhilHealth employees and the winning entry was chosen by a five-member panel that included Banzon, PhilHealth Vice President for Corporate Affairs Group Gregorio C. Rulloda, Innospecs' Enrique Ibe, Soliongco Graphic Design’s Ponci Soliongco and Leo Burnett Indonesia’s Jed Busalla. (END)
