PhilHealth Joins Women's Forum May 12, 2011

On the last stretch of the Women's Month Celebration, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) took part in a forum organized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) at the Department of Agriculture complex in Quezon City. Centered on the theme "Kababaihan, Iahon sa Kahirapan", the forum aimed to address the Millennium Development Goals on poverty alleviation jointly spearheaded by the National Anti-Poverty Commission and Department of Social Welfare and Development. In photo is PhilHealth Senior Manager for International and Local Cooperation Gilda Salvacion A. Diaz as she talks about social protection through health insurance for women in the marginalized sector, and how the adoption of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction will facilitate the enrolment of the poor and informal sector workers in the Sponsored Program. Diaz also co-chairs the Gender and Development Technical Working Group of PhilHealth.

PhilHealth through the Public Affairs Department also set up a mini-exhibit and an information desk to entertain queries and concerns of forum participants who are mostly women from various organized clusters from the urban poor communities in the National Capital Region (NCR).
