NCR and Rizal Group Intensify Collection on Unclaimed Refunds October 7, 2011

The PhRO NCR and Rizal Group heightened its efforts in collecting unclaimed refunds from accredited institutional health care providers within the National Capital Region.

Gregorio C. Rulloda, Area Vice President for North Luzon and NCR and Rizal Group, reiterated his marching order to push for the quick recovery of the PhilHealth benefits which remained in some hospitals.

In response, Dr. Nenita F. Balbuena, Head of the Health Care Delivery Management Division (HCDMD), spearheaded the series of round-table discussions to appraise and remind PhilHealth accredited facilities of their obligations to properly return the benefits that were due to PhilHealth members.

As a result, a substantial number of hospitals submitted their financial reports to NCR Group reflecting the PhilHealth benefits that were not availed of by members.

Latest figures of accredited facilities with reports on unclaimed refund showed a significant increase in the unclaimed refunds recovered. As of August 31, P200,238,669.60 was recovered.

In NCR North Branch alone, P159,461,855.21 was collected from accredited hospitals, ambulatory surgical clinics (ASC) and free standing dialysis clinics (FSDC), while NCR Central Branch and NCR South Branch recovered P29,337,191.50 and P11,439,622.89 respectively. Twenty seven (27) accredited facilities have already fully paid their unclaimed refund, while 65 hospitals have already submitted their certifications that there were no amounts of unclaimed refund in their possession.

Different strategies were initiated to inform the members regarding their unclaimed benefits. At present, P519,641.83 in PhilHealth benefits were rightfully disbursed to members. (END)
