PhilHealth CAR Launches Building Design Contest January 7, 2011

The PhilHealth Regional Office in the Cordillera Administrative Region recently invited all architecture and engineering students from the different universities of the City of Baguio including professionals to join in the PhilHealth Building Design Contest for the future home of the PhilHealth Regional Office and Training Center . The said edifice will soon rise within the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) compound.

Earlier, the Department of Health (DOH) and the BGHMC donated more than a thousand square meters of lot to PhilHealth through a Usufruct Agreement. The lot will be exclusively used by PhilHealth for 50 years. The accord encapsulated PhilHealth's objective to provide available, accessible and quality health care services for all members in the northern side of the country.

In the awarding ceremony held at the Pinesview Hotel recently, Architect Emelito Estonilo Baday bagged P30,000.00 as first prize with his entry garnering a score of 91.67%. Also, Engrs. Casey A. Ballocoy and Krisanto P. Keeg who won the second and third spots, respectively, took home P20,000.00 and P15,000.00 as prizes. The next five non-winners also received P5,000.00 each as consolation prize.

PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rey B. Aquino awarded the prizes with the entire PhRO-CAR staff, contestants and several heads of agencies in the City of Pines present.

According to PhRO-CAR Regional Vice President Dr. Leo Douglas V. Cardona, Jr., the recently-held competition is a good opportunity for Baguio locals to showcase their creativity outlining PhilHealth as a premier social health insurance provider for all Filipinos. (Magnolia del Rosario, PhRO CAR)
