Lingap at Alagang Bayanihan: First Lady Liza Marcos takes LAB for ALL to Vigan City 01-23-2024

Spearheaded by First Lady Marie Louise Araneta-Marcos, “Libreng Laboratoryo, Konsulta, at Gamot Para sa Lahat,” or LAB for ALL, went to Vigan, Ilocos Sur to provide free medical consultations, laboratory tests, medicines, and other government services to residents there. The event was held on January 23, 2023, at the Vigan Convention Center.

LAB (Lingap at Alagang Bayanihan) reflects the Marcos Administration's compassion and commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of the people. "Maliit na bagay lang ito, but hopefully it will grow to become something better, and hopefully, in the end, we’ll be able to serve more people who need help,” said the First Lady. She then thanked the different government agencies and partner private sectors for working together to be of service to the Filipino people.

Almost 1,700 beneficiaries received medical and social services, as well as food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Ilocos Sur Governor Jeremias “Jerry” Singson thanked First Lady Marcos for bringing LAB for ALL to the province. He also recognized the importance of health care services for the local community.

PhilHealth's unwavering support for the initiative was evident with the presence of its President and CEO Emmanuel R. Ledesma, Jr, who was joined by PhilHealth Area I Vice President Walter R. Bacareza and Regional Office I Regional Vice President Dennis B. Adre.

On the other hand, Local Health Insurance Office- Ilocos Sur has put up an information booth to address attendees’ queries and concerns. A list of accredited PhilHealth Konsulta (Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama) Package Providers was displayed for the benefit of the members to promote benefit package. In addition, information materials and corporate giveaways were distributed to promote other PhilHealth benefits and services.

“PhilHealth is proud and honored to be part of the Lab for All Project of our dear First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. This project has continuously prioritized the accessibility as well as the quality of healthcare services, in line with the commitment of our President Bongbong Marcos Jr. to bring health services closer to the Filipino people,” said Ledesma.

Various government agencies were also present to dispense services to the people. They were the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Commission on Higher Education, Public Attorney’s Office, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), among others.

Launched in May 2023, LAB for ALL has made rounds in different provinces nationwide to provide medical and social services. The Vigan leg was the third to be conducted in Region I. The previous two were in Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan. END
