Health Insurance for 11,000 tricycle drivers in Pasig City March 2, 2020

AROUND 11,000 tricycle drivers and operators in Pasig City will soon enjoy health insurance coverage through the city's renewed partnership with state agency Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

Sponsored by the City Government, the PhilHealth coverage will entitle the recipients to PhilHealth benefits when confined in accredited hospitals even outside of Pasig City. This is in line with Mayor Vico Sotto's program for health which has been one of his priorities as the youngest local chief executive in the country.

Sa P12B, P2B po ang inallot ni Mayor para sa health service ngayong 2020, Volta de los Santos, Vico Sotto's Head Executive Assistant and the current head of the Tricycle Operations Regulatory Office (TORO) said in an interview."

De los Santos said that this project with PhilHealth may be the first in their city and assures its continuity for the years to come.

Also, the TORO chief believes that the safety of drivers and their passengers are paramount.

Many people would often ignore the importance of having PhilHealth. They often see it as a time-consuming process to undertake or worse, an unnecessary expense. But time and again, de los Santos have personally proven that having PhilHealth coverage is not only financially smart, but also hugely beneficial to one's health.

De los Santos also assured PhilHealth of the support of LGU-Pasig for its program and stressed the responsibility of every recipient for his health. (END)
