PhilHealth Z Packages for major heart surgeries now available at Western Visayas Medical Center September 3, 2019
Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao, Iloilo City is now contracted to provide PhilHealth Z-Benefit packages for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) starting August 28, 2019.
"With the increasing number of patients diagnosed with catastrophic illnesses and with the hike in day-to-day expenses, PhilHealth continues to provide benefits for expensive treatment and prolonged hospitalization of our members. We also keep on encouraging Health Care Institutions to partner with us to provide the Z Benefits" said Janet A. Monteverde, Acting Regional Vice-President of PhilHealth Region 6 Office.
PhilHealth currently pays P550,000 for CABG, P250,000 for VSD and P320,000 for TOF.
The WVMC has earlier been contracted for Z packages for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer and Selected Orthopedic Implants, for which PhilHealth pays for P380,000, P100,000 and P100,000, respectively.
The Z-Benefit packages include mandatory services for the totality of care that are essential for the treatment of the condition, hospital services such as accommodation, medicines, laboratories and professional fees and other services or alternative guideline recommendations that may be needed by the patient.
Moreover, the No Balance Billing (NBB) or "walang dagdag bayad" will be applicable to eligible Sponsored, Indigent, Lifetime, Senior Citizens, and Kasambahay members and their qualified dependents availing of these packages in all Z packages-contracted government and private Health Care Institutions.
"We want to lessen the out-of-the-pocket expenses of the members, especially the marginalized, and alleviate the emotional burden of the family not only by providing big case rate packages but also by ensuring that total quality care is achieved by the patients" added Monteverde.
Other than the WVMC, three more facilities in Western Visayas have already been providing Z Benefits and these are St. Paul's Hospital Iloilo for Kidney Transplantation and Peritoneal Dialysis; The Medical City Iloilo for CABG; and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for ALL, Breast CA, Prostate CA and Selected Orthopedic Implants.
