"Ang PhilHealth ay isang pambansang paniguruhang pangkalusugan na kabalikat ng bawat mamamayang Filipino. Ito’y isang korporasyong sandigan ng bawat pamilyang Filipino. Layunin nitong mapagbuti, mapagyaman, at patuloy pang paunlarin ang estadong pangkalusugan ng bansa."
This is PhilHealth through the eyes of Joseph N. Nael/Edwin A. Erejer of Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School, Biñan City, Laguna, the regional winners for the recently concluded PhilHealth poster making contest with the theme, "Ang PhilHealth sa Aking mga Mata." They bested five other students from various schools in Cavite and Laguna representing the six Division Offices that participated in the said contest.
The other contenders were Elmer B. Platero, Jr. of Dayap National High School, Calauan, Laguna representing Division of Laguna; Vince Azlee Roi D. Deyto of Cabuyao Integrated National High School, Cabuyao City representing Division of Cabuyao; Timothy Estacio of Calamba Bayside National High School, Calamba City representing Division of Calamba City; Edcel Joseph Lasarte and John Romeo Frias of Dasmariñas East Integrated High School, Dasmariñas, Cavite representing Division of Dasmariñas; and Harmond B. Amular of Munting Ilog National High School, Silang, Cavite representing Division of Cavite Province.
The poster making contest is an avenue for the students to showcase their talents in arts and express the knowledge gained, awareness and understanding about PhilHealth. It also seeks the younger generation's perception of what PhilHealth is all about and for PhilHealth to gain a fresh perspective on how to better market the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP). Through these Grade 10 students, PhilHealth can get new ideas and a better grasp on how to make people, especially the younger generation, better understand the NHIP.
The regional winner was chosen from the Division level winners who were judged by the PhilHealth Regional Office covering the Division Office. For PhilHealth Regional Office IVA, the judging was held last February 27, 2018 with Regional Vice President Alberto C. Manduriao as Chairperson of the Board of Judges.
The winners were chosen based creativity and presentation - 40 %; originality - 30 %; and relevance to the theme - 30 %.
Nael and Erejer topped the contest, while Amular won 2nd place. Lasarte and Frias won 3rd place.
With the teaching of the PhilHealth Learner's Material (PLM) to Grade 10 students rolled-out to selected public schools, PhilHealth hopes to continuously promote the teaching of PLM to public schools. For PRO IVA, the integration was done with Calamba Division Office as pilot for School Year 2017-2018 while the rest of the Division Offices covering Quezon, Laguna and Cavite will start in SY 2018-2019.
Through the poster making contest, PhilHealth strengthens its partnership with DepEd while sustaining the interest on the NHIP among Grade 10 public school students.
The artworks represent how students in public schools now value and appreciate the role of PhilHealth in the financial risk protection of Filipinos as they understood through the teaching of the PLM in their respective classes.
The winning artwork per region will be showcased in the 2019 corporate calendar of PhilHealth, emphasizing the impact of teaching the concepts behind the NHIP to the students in our country's Basic Education. (END) (by Sharyll O. Carpio)
