Media Statement June 1, 2018

THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) today said it will cease from issuing further statements relating to the recent issues that have been catching media‘s attention over the last few weeks, particularly on the fund intended for the premium contributions of senior citizens.

“Based on the directive of the PhilHealth Board of Directors, we have already filed a complaint against former Health Secretary Dr. Janette Garin and former PhilHealth President and CEO Atty. Alexander A. Padilla with the Office of the Ombudsman pertaining to the process by which the request for the funds was made,” said PhilHealth Interim/OIC President and CEO, Dr. Celestina Ma. Jude P. de la Serna.

“We now await the next steps of the said Office and we commit to fully cooperate with the proceedings that will be called for. In the meantime, we will no longer issue statements on the matter,” she said.

“Let me sincerely assure our members and stakeholders that we remain unwavering in our efforts to uphold the ideals of genuine public service, and that we conduct our operations with utmost public accountability to ensure that service remains uninterrupted,” De la Serna said. (END)
