Compassionate and Harmonized Actions and Networks for Gender Equality is the “CHANGE” we are working on as we espouse for women empowerment and take up any development effort responsive to women’s concerns.
PhilHealth Regional Office (PRO) VI supports this year’s National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) themed “We Make Change Work for Women” which relays the message that women as active drivers should bring about positive change and be claimholders for development.
“True compassion for change and empowerment are highly realized in our theme and we, in PhilHealth, are very supportive to the change that we want to have. PhilHealth enables our women to be involved in corporate management and activities with our stakeholders and sees to it that the Magna Carta for Women is fully implemented” said Lourdes F. Diocson, PRO VI Regional Vice President.
Juanas of PRO VI and Local Health Insurance Offices (LHIO) actively joined Local Government Unit (LGU)-spearheaded activities such as parades, zumba exercise, and others that promote women as agents for change.
Likewise, the Gender and Development (GAD) focal point person in the Regional Office led the flag-raising ceremony and explained the objectives, theme, and various ways to contribute in attaining the goals of the national celebration to all employees.
Display of the 2018 NWMC official streamers in PRO and LHIOs, airing of advocacy video about GAD, and posting on social media of the advocacy were also done in support of the celebration.
“The NWMC is a collaborative effort therefore we see to it that we involve our fellow employees. We are one in the call to advance women’s rights and gender equality, to break stereotypes, to stop gender-based violence and discrimination against women,” said Arniel P. Malaga, PRO VI GAD Focal Point Person.
The NWMC every March is part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day. It emphasizes a collective effort and participation to ensure that no women shall be left behind in the pursuit for change. (END) (Klarissa N. Alkonga)
