In celebration of its 22nd anniversary, the Regional Office XII of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) sent out teams to visit various hospitals in the region and distributed emergency kits to at least 103 admitted patients.
The team, led by Health Care Delivery and Management OIC Division Chief, Dr. Antoniette M. Ladio, also gathered feedbacks from the patients.
Jocelyn Dario, one of the recipients who availed herself of the maternity care package from Polomolok Municipal Hospital said that “PhilHealth ang kailangan ng bawat Pilipino. Kami po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa mga taong bumubuo ng PhilHealth.” She is thankful that she is a member and she believes that PhilHealth is what every Filipino needs.
Bonia Ligo is also thankful because she has not paid any single centavo when she was admitted due to urinary tract infection (UTI) at the Upper Valley Community Hospital. “Madamo nga salamat kay tungod sa PhilHealth wala kami nabayaran sa hospital.”
Out of the 103 recipients of emergency kits, 58 were indigent members, 16 were point-of-care enrollees, 15 were NHTS-PR beneficiaries, two (2) were Informal Sector members and another two (2) were from the Formal Economy.
On the other hand, Isagani Pinalde who was admitted at Pres. Roxas Provincial Community Hospital due to acute gastroenteritis, expressed his discontent. “Ok lang pero dili kaayo daku ang package,” (It’s alright but the benefit package is not enough).
The hospital visit will be done in the succeeding years, purposely to provide tokens and gather feedbacks from admitted patients that can be beneficial in the crafting and development of PhilHealth policies.
The annual hospital visit is in line with the corporation’s goal of coming up with more initiatives in order to provide customer delight and better quality service through accredited health care providers. (Hanah G. Naanep)
