TAGUIG CITY - The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has entered into an agreement with the Philippine Alliance of Patient Organizations (PAPO) to further strengthen its information campaign during the recent PhilHealth Forward event in Taguig City.
Under the agreement, PhilHealth will provide learning sessions among PAPO members to update them on the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) through the conduct of the Social Health Insurance Education Series or SHInES.
PAPO on the other hand, will develop a communication plan for “PAPO-PhilHealth Advocates” and assist PhilHealth in the IEC campaign. The PAPO-PhilHealth Advocates are selected leaders of PAPO and will be trained and included in the roster of speakers under the Speakers Bureau.
Further, both agencies will engage with various patient groups and organizations to be able to provide participants with accurate information on the NHIP and awareness of their rights, benefits, and responsibilities as PhilHealth members.
The PAPO is the umbrella organization of various disease-specific patient groups in the country advocating universal access to health care and allied services for Filipino patients, including persons with disabilities.
To date, PhilHealth has conducted 23 SHInES to various groups, organizations and agencies. (END)(Michelle S. Nisperos)
