THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently joined the 2017 Government Corporations Athletic Association (GCAA) Inter-Agency Chess Tournament which was formally opened at the Social Security System (SSS) Auditorium in Quezon City.
The annual GCAA activity aims to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among participating government agencies and achieve work-life balance for employees, as well.
During the opening ceremony, Rose Marie Tubal of the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) who is GCAA Executive Vice President gave her inspirational message to all the participants. She said that “this game does not require muscles or strenuous training to be able to compete; it is actually a battle of the brains because it entails a lot of thinking.”
Aside from PhilHealth, other participating government agencies were the SSS, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).
The GSIS was named winner for this year’s 2017 GCAA Inter-Agency Chess Tournament followed by three-time defending champion SSS. The LBP came in third, and PhilHealth settled for fourth place. (END) (Faudia H. Subillaga)
