THE Z Benefit Package for Prematurity and Low Birth Weight babies was unveiled last Friday at the Peninsula Manila. The activity was jointly undertaken by the Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund in a bid to showcase collaborative efforts to help bring down neonatal mortality in the country. The Z Benefit Package, which includes coverage for cortico-steroids, medicines to prevent eclampsia, transfer of the mother to the nearest referral facility and other interventions to prevent complications related to prematurity and low birth weight, will be available in contracted facilities by early 2017.
