What I’ve observed in PhilHealth is its continuous innovation to provide quality healthcare and service to all its members.”
Thus said Justin Adrales of Chinese Commercial News when he attended the recent PhilHealth Forward at the Novotel Manila, Araneta Center in Quezon City.
During the event, PhilHealth showcased its latest developments and innovations that included the integration of a module on the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) in the health curriculum of Grade 10 students, and the case rates and member inquiry mobile application that will make benefit availment easier. Latest PhilHealth policies were also discussed during the Forward event.
First to be featured was the development of a learning module that contains basic information on the NHIP. The module, which was developed by the Social Health Insurance Academy (SHIA), will be integrated in the Health Education subject of Grade 10 students. The project aims to educate students on the concept of social solidarity and risk pooling where the health of Filipinos is concerned, and highlights the role of PhilHealth in providing financial risk protection for all Filipinos.
Another innovation presented was the case rate and member inquiry mobile application, initiated by the Information Technology Management Department (ITMD) that will enable members to access their PhilHealth identification numbers (PIN), payment records, and the amount of case rates for common illnesses. The application will soon be available for all android users.
Among the new issuances discussed were Circular 2016-0005 requiring accredited health care institutions to submit the Statement of Account (SoA) for all case rate claims reimbursement; Circular 2016-0006 on the revised P-CARES Form 1; Circular 2016-0007 or the creation of the PhilHealth Dialysis Database (PDD); and Circular 2016-0008 requiring employers to present the Statement of Premium Account (SPA) prior to premium contribution payment at accredited collecting agents. Also discussed was Circular 2016-0009 which institutionalized the deployment of PhilHealth Customer Assistance, Relations and Empowerment Staff (P-CARES) in Health Care Institutions to provide assistance to PhilHealth members.
Video presentations featuring the establishment of PhilHealth, OFW testimonials on benefit availments here and abroad, member testimonies on availment of maternity care package and how the capitation fund helped the City of Bislig in Surigao del Sur for the benefit of all Bisliganons were also shown.
