THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently took part in the Philippine Government Employees Association’s (PGEA) National Convention of Government Employees held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The whole day affair was in line with the latter’s 70th anniversary celebration.
The theme of the occasion, "Magkaisa at Palakasin! Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon Harapin,” aims to encourage unity and oneness among public servants amid the challenges the country is facing now. The event had more than 300 participants from different government offices led by PGEA National President Esperanza S. Ocampo.
In her message, Ocampo emphasized that “we all have chosen to dedicate our service to the government. We should uphold integrity and honest public service at all times. Let us continue to pray for our fellow government employees so that we can continue serving the public with the quality service they are entitled to.”
On the other hand, Alexander A. Padilla, PhilHealth’s President and CEO, stated that “Lahat ng empleyado na kawani ng gobyerno ay aming iniingatan dahil sa tulong at dedikasyon ninyo na pagsilbihan ang ating mga mamamayan. Bawat empleyado ay makatatanggap ng sapat at wastong benepisyo sa pamahalaan.” PhilHealth also conducted the Social Health Insurance Education Series (SHInES) for government employees which aims to deepen one’s understanding and appreciation of the concept of SHI and make them fully understand and appreciate the key principles behind the National Health Insurance Program.
Senior Manager for Formal Sector, Rey T. Baleña discussed the different membership categories and other services rendered by PhilHealth, followed by a lecture on PhilHealth’s benefit packages by OIC-Vice President for the Corporate Affairs Group, Dr. Israel Francis A. Pargas.
Updates on the role of the Civil Service Commission and on the Salary Standardization Law were also given by CSC Assistant Commissioner David Cabanag Jr. while Atty. Darlene Marie B. Berberabe, President and CEO of the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) also shared the agency’s latest developments. Atty. Benjo Santos M. Benavidez, Director of Department of Labor and Employment gave updates on the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council.
Michael Angelo Lobrin gave an inspirational talk and stressed that “kahit hindi napapansin ng pamahalaan ang ating mabuting ginagawa laging may Diyos na nakatingin sa atin.”
The activity was also graced by former Secretary of Interior and Local Government Manuel A. Roxas II and Senator Mary Grace Sonora Poe-Llamanzares.
The day was capped with the association’s recognition and awards ceremony. (END)
