6,477 Runners to Join PhilHealth Koronadal Run February 13, 2015

SOME 6,477 runners are expected to join the PhilHealth Run 2015 Koronadal leg which will start at exactly 5am on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Jaycee's Avenue, City of Koronadal. The target for PhilHealth Region XII, as national share, is 5,000.

Lorelie G. Bonilla-OIC, Field Operations Division and Regional Lead Coordinator for PhilHealth Run 2015 shared that "this event will see runners competing in different race categories. We have 410 children below 12 years old who registered under the 3k kiddie race category and 6,067 adults who will be running under the 5k (including around 438 students who paid PhP100.00 special registration rate), 10k and 20k categories."

"We would like to remind all runners that the Start and Finish line will be at Jaycee's Avenue. Entrance is through the gate at the right side of the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center along Alunan Avenue. Turning point for those running under 3k category is at the Public Terminal fronting Marvella Plaza. 5k turning point is at Banga Autoparts fronting Citramina. 10k turning point is at NIA XII while 20k turning point is after the Saravia bridge", said Bonilla.

Aside from the cash prizes and medals that winners will receive, all 6,000 plus runners may win gadgets and gift certificates courtesy of sponsors.

The proceeds will be equally shared by the following beneficiaries: the DSWD XII Home for Girls and Cotabato Bahay Maria Foundation, Inc. "We would like to give both beneficiaries 1M each. The way we look at our financial standing, we will be able to reach 2M by February 14", said Bonilla.

DSWD XII Home for Girls caters to a growing number of vulnerable girls and victims of child abuse, neglect and exploitation. The facility is a temporary shelter for those who are endangered or in life-threatening situations and in need of care and rehabilitation. The center is located at Arellanio St., City of Koronadal.

Cotabato Bahay Maria Foundation, Inc. is a home for the aged, abandoned and sick elderly and is located at Anacleto Badoy Sr. St. Poblacion 11, Cotabato City.(Gloria Amor L. Sequito, Public Relations Officer B)
