TO promote greater ease and flexibility in remitting their PhilHealth contributions, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is implementing a new payment schedule for employers starting March 2014.
In its Circular No. 1, s-2014, employers in the Government and private sectors with PhilHealth Employer Number (PEN) ending in 0 to 4 may remit their monthly contributions every 11th to 15th day of the month following the month being paid for, while those with PENs ending in 5 to 9 may remit every 16th to 20th day.
For example, with March 2014 being the applicable month, employers with PEN ending in 0 to 4 may remit their contributions from April 11 to 15 of this year, while those with PENs ending in 5 to 9 may remit from April 16 to 20.
Meanwhile, submission of remittance reports shall be within five (5) days after payment has been made. "Should the date due falls on a weekend or holiday, both payments and remittance reporting can still be made on the next working day" the Circular clarified.
PhilHealth encouraged employers to regularly remit their contributions following the new schedule to avoid penalties. END
