PhilHealth Supports Campaign Against Breast Cancer October 10, 2013

IN celebration of the Cancer Prevention Month this October, PhilHealth is supporting the growing awareness campaign against breast cancer “Pink Positive” by the ICANSERVE Foundation.

Dr. Francis Vicente Lopez, a member of the PhilHealth Board of Directors representing the Self-employed Sector and a well known oncologist was invited to give a lecture on breast cancer during the recent Pink Positive Wellness Forum held at the Filinvest Tent, Muntinlupa City.

According to Dr. Lopez, one of today’s leading causes of mortality among women is breast cancer which if detected at an early stage is still curable. He also discussed the importance of being an active PhilHealth member and the benefits that a cancer patient can avail for the treatment of the disease. Under its Z Benefit Package, PhilHealth is providing P100,000.00 for the treatment of breast cancer (stage 0 to IIIA). Members who will avail this package shall secure a pre-authorization from PhilHealth which will give contracted hospitals the information that the member has passed the eligibility and minimum clinical selection criteria.

As a sponsor of Pink Positive campaign, PhilHealth has been provided with a pledge wall wherein employees can write their messages of hope to those battling breast cancer and to honor those who have passed away due to the disease. Said pledge wall was launched recently by no less than Pink Positive volunteers Lani Eusebio and Pamsy Tioseco of the ICANSERVE Foundation and are both breast cancer survivors themselves. The pledge wall is currently displayed at the 17th floor lobby of the PhilHealth Head Office in Pasig City for everyone to see.
