PhilHealth, JILCW and ZBNI Sign Tripartite Deal May 22, 2012

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently tapped the Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide (JILCW) and Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc. (ZBNI) to help promote the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) by keeping them updated on their PhilHealth benefits.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which was signed at the PhilHealth Head Office in Pasig City , the three organizations agreed to put service to OFWs at the forefront of the partnership. "Taking care of the OFWs is really a big challenge for PhilHealth, that is why we took every opportunity like forging partnerships with JILCW and ZBNI so we can reach out to them. This partnership will boost our information and education campaign specifically to our Overseas Workers Program members and their families," said Dr. Eduardo P. Banzon, PhilHealth President and CEO.

Under the MOU, PhilHealth and JILCW agreed to work together by making resources such as links to website and social networking sites, available for information updates and advisories. Both organizations also agreed to strengthen coordination on and participation in OFW-centered activities. The JILCW will assign a point person locally and overseas to provide assistance to PhilHealth in its information and dissemination campaign. "Kaisa kami ng PhilHealth sa pagpapalaganap, hindi lamang sa spiritual health, maging sa physical health," said Eleanor Villanueva-Tugna, Executive Director of JILCW.

The JILCW is a Charismatic movement with over six million members here and abroad. It has regular parish bulletins, advocacy seminars, traditional and social media presence to keep its members updated and constantly nurtured in their religious beliefs. The JILCW also extends its welfare support programs even to OFWs with other religious beliefs.

On the other hand, ZBNI, operates through UHF Channel 33 covering the entire Mega Manila, and reaching the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas including parts of Quezon, Bataan and Tarlac. Most major Cable TV networks also carry ZBNI programs. It also operates DZJV, which serves Metro Manila, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA areas.

The ZBNI has agreed to provide free airtime for PhilHealth's advocacy program for OFWs at least once a week. "We also want to be a front liner in helping the government and to support PhilHealth in making this project successful," said Maria Socorro Garcia, ZBNI's Vice President for Finance and Marketing.

The operationalization of the tripartite agreement is expected to commence next month, for the benefit of over two million registered OFWs under the OWP. (END)(by Pinky G. Aragones; photos by Juanito G. Pineda)
