WITH the effectivity of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the National Health Insurance Act of 2013, PhilHealth President and CEO Alexander Padilla announced that PhilHealth members will now be able to avail of their health care benefits due to the liberalization of eligibility rules governing benefit availment.
The IRR took effect Sunday, October 6, being the 15th day after its publication last September 21.
"PhilHealthâs informal sector members and their qualified dependents, popularly known as Individually Paying members, shall now be required three (3) months instead of nine (9) months contributions to avail of certain benefits" Padilla said, adding that such is part of efforts to make PhilHealth benefits easier to access by all Filipinos.
"For informal sector members who lack three (3) months of qualifying contributions, they will still be eligible to benefits if they pay the whole year of their premium contributions" the PhilHealth Chief pointed out.
Padilla also exhorted all their accredited hospitals to observe the new eligibility rules so that members fully benefit from the program.
