PhilHealth Joins DZMM’s "Takbo para sa Karunungan" for a Worthy Cause March 28, 2012

Never mind if the participants got up early in the morning, it was an event worthy of a cause: to help 75 scholars affected by Typhoon Sendong "attain their dreams of a better future to further their education."

As a responsible corporate citizen, PhilHealth supported DZMM’s "Takbo para sa Karunungan" Year 2 as it fielded a total of 300 participants to the fun run held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila last March 11, 2011.

PhilHealth’s Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Dr. Alvin Marcelo, Vice Presidents Gregorio Rulloda, Ruben John Basa and Nerissa Santiago, led the PhilHealth runners race to the finish line, carrying a banner which displayed PhilHealth's own race to universal health care with the battlecry "Bawat Pilipino Miyembro. Bawat Miyembro Protektado. Kalusugan Natin Segurado."

The fun run gathered about 5,000 runners from different sectors of society, including government institutions like PhilHealth, Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police.

In the end, PhilHealth won the biggest government delegation in the 5K race. The run was all worth it after all. (END) (by Amelita L.Buted)
