THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has clarified that diverted premium payments as reported by Commission on Audit (COA) had been recovered by PhilHealth since September 2012. The premiums were diverted prior to being received by PhilHealth but was made to appear electronically to had been received by the state-run health insurance agency.
Dr. Eduardo P. Banzon, PhilHealth President and CEO clarified that involved parties had settled with PhilHealth and that the diverted health insurance premiums had been remitted in favor of the Corporation. Further, adequate coordination has made with law enforcement agencies to prevent a repetition of the said incident. He stressed that measures had been undertaken to strengthen the integrity of PhilHealthâs database including protocols for stricter access on the system and the establishment of a Corporate Information Security Department. In addition, electronic reporting of premium payments through the Electronic premium Reporting System (EPRS) will soon be mandatory for all employers.
