PhilHealth Joins the 2nd Philippine Print Media Congress September 18, 2012

THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently took part in this year's 2nd Philippine Print Media Congress held at the Manila Hotel Tent City.

Dubbed "Print Connects," this year’s Print Media Congress aims to establish that the print media remains to be a major and relevant mainstream medium of mass communication and continue to be so with the emergence of new non-traditional media.

Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim in his welcome remarks emphasized that "The role of media is to foster unity among people, to develop friendship, so as to be united as a people and stressed that the media industry should be an "inspiration of the people," and not "an avenue for negative and derogatory utterances."

The two-day event chaired by Manila Bulletin’s head of External Affairs Barbie Atienza, was organized by the United Print Media Group (UPMG), a non-profit organization of major broadsheet, tabloids and magazine and was graced by hundreds of executives, officers, staff, and media practitioners-publishers, editors and writers from the advertising community as well as readers at large.

This year’s event had more than a dozen exhibitors that included large-format printing, and some of the latest technologies for out-of-home.

Through its information desk at the said fair, PhilHealth was able to provide online ID and member data record (MDR) generation services to the participants. A total of 220 clients have been served by the said booth where 197 of them were able to get their MDRs and IDs on-the-spot, while others were assisted with their membership and claims verification concerns. Several copies of the PhilHealth Member Registration Form (PMRF) and the Report of Employee-Members Form (ER2) were also distributed to some members whose names are not yet in the PhilHealth database. Various reading materials on PhilHealth’s case rates, Z package, member duties and responsibilities, PhilHealth benefits, registration procedures and keeping their membership status active were also distributed to booth visitors.

The PhilHealth infodesk service was jointly handled by the PhilHealth NCR North Branch and the Corporate Communication Department. (Documentation by Emelita M. Retuta, Pinky Aragones and Juanito G. Pineda)
