The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to provide health insurance benefits to transport workers nationwide under the Sponsored Program of PhilHealth.
Under the agreement, PCSO will grant financial assistance worth P120 million as the Local Government Unit (LGU) counterpart for a year's health insurance coverage of some 200,000 transport workers.
Shown signing the MOA are (L-R) Tito M. Mendiola, PhilHealth Senior Vice President for Operations; Dr. Rey B. Aquino, PhilHealth President and CEO; and Rosario C. Uriarte, PCSO General Manager.
The PCSO is the country's principal government agency that raises and provides funds for various health and social welfare programs for the less privileged Filipinos.
