New PhilHealth Board Members Take Oath -

DR. Esperanza I. Cabral (left), Health Secretary and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) swears into office the three new members of the PhilHealth Board during a recent meeting in Pasig City .
The new inductees are Atty. Valentin C. Guanio, former PhilHealth Senior Vice President for Legal Services now representing Overseas Filipino Workers; former Senator and DOH Chief Dr. Juan M. Flavier representing health care providers; and Asuncion Balingit-Santos, former Director of John Hay Management Corporation representing the employers sector.
The 13-member PhilHealth Board is chaired by the DOH Secretary while the PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer sits as Vice Chair. Other members are the Secretaries of Labor and Employment; Interior and Local Government; Social Welfare and Development; the SSS President and CEO and GSIS President and General Manager; the Vice Chair of the basic sector of the National Anti-Poverty Commission; representatives of labor, employers, OFWs, self-employed and health care providers sectors as members.
