More iRemit branches Now Accepting PhilHealth Payments -
August 31, 2010
GOOD news to all Overseas Filipino Workers in the Asia-Pacific Region, Europe, Middle East and North America, they now have more channels through which they can pay their premium contributions for the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
At least 69 iRemit global branches and tie-ups are now accepting premium contributions from PhilHealth OFW-members and individually paying members (IPMs) working abroad.
"These branches have started receiving contributions equivalent to P900 and P1,200 for a year's premium of OFWs and IPMs, respectively," said Dr. Rey B. Aquino, PhilHealth President and CEO. "We see this development as a real advantage to our OFW-members and IPMs working overseas who want to keep their PhilHealth memberships active."
iRemit has 18 branches in the Asia-Pacific Region, ten in Europe, 36 in the Middle East, and five in North America. It started collecting premium payments on behalf of PhilHealth since 2003. "The figures are promising," said Aquino, adding that "...as of July 31, collections from OFWs through these global branches already reached half a million pesos since they started collecting in mid-July. We thank iRemit for providing this service for our OFWs and IPMs," he added.
Aside from accepting premiums, iRemit is also assisting PhilHealth in its membership registration and information dissemination efforts at no additional cost.
