First Batch of UMID Cards Released

THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently issued the first batch of Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) cards to less privileged families from various areas in the National Capital Region through partnerships with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and private companies like Smart Communications, Globe Telecoms, and Petron Corporation. First Batch of UMID Cards Released

Vice President de Castro observes the onscreen demonstration of the UMID card's use at the PhilHealth booth during the 2008 Jobs and Livelihood Fair organized by the DOLE. The UMID card has a chip that will soon facilitate member's eligibility checking at the hospital level to ensure hassle-free availment of hospitalization benefits.
