PhilHealth Adopts A Hectare at La Mesa Ecopark - March 24, 2008
ON the occasion of its 13th Anniversary, PhilHealth adopted an entire hectare at the La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City to help reforest the watershed. PhilHealth officers and employees tried their hands at preparing the seedlings and actually planting them. A member of the La Mesa Eco Team demonstrates the proper way of preparing the seedlings for potting at the nursery.
Senior Vice President for Management Services Sector, Melinda C. Mercado, Training Institute Manager Linda B. Laureta & NCR North Manager, Leticia P. Portugal (partly hidden) together with PhilHealth staffmembers fill the polyethylene plastic bags with soil for the potting activity.
A member of the La Mesa Eco Team demonstrates the proper way of planting the seedlings to ensure survival, as SVP Mercado, DM Laureta & other staffmembers get ready for the next activity. The forester emphasized that there's no such thing as a "green thumb" and that awareness of and proper management of the seedlings are the keys to successful planting.
Also present during the Tree Planting Activity were Vice President for Quality Assurance Group Dr. Shirley B. Domingo and NCR Central Department Manager Lolita V. Tuliao.
Comptrollership Department staffmembers join their Manager, Victoria D. Pablo as she secures the seedling into the hole.
SVP Mercado plants a cupang seedling as PhilHealth staffmembers assist her. Despite the drizzle, the officers and employees did not mind getting their hands soiled for the activity.
