President Arroyo Leads ID Distribution to Tricycle Operators and Drivers - November 19, 2008
HER Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Rey B. Aquino (3rd from left), turn over the mock-up PhilHealth check representing the P1.2 million premium sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for the enrolment of members of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) in simple ceremonies held at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City recently. The enrolment was made possible after a series of meetings between PhilHealth, Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes and Rodolfo D. Javellana, Jr., Chairman of Alab ng Puso Multi-Purpose Cooperative under Kongreso ng TODA with the able support of Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III and PCSO General Manager Rosario C. Uriarte.
In her speech, President Arroyo announced various benefits for TODA members as part of her early Christmas gift. The benefits included P1.2 million worth of health insurance from PhilHealth, discounts on drug testing fees from the Land Transportation Office, P2 million worth of scholarships from the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and fuel discounts from Shell. Around 2,000 tricycle drivers and operators nationwide cheered on President Arroyo's arrival.
