Pay premiums before December 23----PhilHealth - December 12, 2008
INDIVIDUALLY Paying Members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) are urged to pay their premium for the fourth quarter of 2008 before December 23 to avoid the long lines at payment centers nationwide.
In an interview on "Dear PhilHealth" over Radio DZRH yesterday, Walter Bacareza, PhilHealth Manager for Marketing and Collections called on IPMs to beat the holiday rush and remit their premium through any of the 17 PhilHealth Regional Offices and 44 accredited collecting banks and their branches in the country.
Bacareza stressed the importance of updated, complete and timely remittance of PhilHealth premiums in ensuring benefits availment at PhilHealth-accredited facilities. He added that certain medical procedures now require sufficient regularity of contributions, especially among IPMs. The premium rate of IPMs is P300.00 and is payable quarterly, semi-annually or annually and entitles them to various inpatient and outpatient hospitalization benefits at accredited hospitals nationwide.
At the same time, Bacareza also reminded employers in the private and government sectors to remit the premium contributions of their employees, and the employer counterpart amounts, for the month of December 2008 not later than Friday, January 9, 2009 and the remittance reports before January 15 next year. "Companies may opt to submit their remittance reports either in electronic or hard copy formats," he said.
The employed sector currently comprises about 7.83 million or 49.6 percent of the total PhilHealth membership count of 15.78 million, while IPMs comprise about 2.84 million or 18 percent. (END)
