Health Insurance for NCR's Less Privileged Families

AT least 500 less privileged families from various areas in the National Capital Region recently received health insurance coverage under the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) through the auspices of the Department of Labor and Employment and Smart Communications, Inc. The beneficiaries were among the very first to receive the Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) cards that will soon facilitate member transactions in PhilHealth-accredited hospitals. The enrolled families may avail themselves of quality medical care services through any of PhilHealth's 1,576 accredited hospitals and over 21,000 accredited doctors nationwide.

Globe Telecoms also enrolled 500 indigent families under PhilHealth's Sponsored Program. These families may avail themselves of quality medical care services through any of PhilHealth's 1,576 accredited hospitals and over 21,000 accredited doctors nationwide.

On the other hand, Petron Corporation also sponsored the coverage of several families. AT yesterday's Labor Day Celebration at the World Trade center in Pasay City, PhilHealth also put up an information desk at the WTC to address the inquiries of jobseekers about their PhilHealth coverage. Manning the information desk are staffmembers of NCR South. (END)
