PhilHealth Hosts Breastfeeding Exhibit - November 20, 2008
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) recently hosted a photo exhibit on breastfeeding, in cooperation with the Children of Nurturers of the Earth Philippines and Children for Breastfeeding Inc., Philippines. During the flag ceremonies that preceded the formal opening of the Exhibit, Nona D. Andaya-Castillo, Presidential Consultant for Infant and Young Child Feeding discussed some of the indigenous foods that are excellent sources of protein and calcium. She emphasized that a gradual change in lifestyle and eating habits can help increase natural immunity against diseases. Also in photo are (from left) Evangeline Racelis, Manager, Treasury Department; Ernesto Beltran, Senior Vice President for Operations; Linda Laureta, Manager, Training Institute; Melinda C. Mercado, Senior Vice President for Management Services Sector; and Dr. Elvira Henares-Esguerra, one of the Ten Outstanding Filipino Physicians for 2008.
Esguerra, an internationally accredited lactation consultant, led the singing of the National Anthem during the special flag ceremonies held at the PhilHealth Head Office. Andaya-Castillo, Fajardo, Esperanza S. Ocampo, National President of Philippine Government Employees Association (PGEA) and Henares-Esguerra led the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the photo exhibit on breastfeeding held at the 18th floor of City State Centre in Pasig City which ran from October 20-24, 2008
