3-in-1 Accreditation Now Open for Institutional Health Care Providers - August 11, 2008
INSTITUTIONAL health care providers capable of providing at least three specific benefit packages may now avail of the 3-in-1 accreditation of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Lorna O. Fajardo, Acting PhilHealth President and CEO said that the new scheme is aimed at simplifying the process of accreditation by allowing a single application form for use of the facility that intends to provide the outpatient primary care, maternity care and Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse (DOTS) packages.
She added that this development is also expected to reduce the administrative cost involved in processing separate applications for accreditation of institutional HCPs.
"For now, the new scheme is open to all government HCPs nationwide," Fajardo emphasized, adding that local government units' HCPs capable of providing only two of the three outpatient packages may also avail of the packaged accreditation application.
"We encourage government health care facilities to take advantage of this accreditation scheme," citing that this will similarly be advantageous to PhilHealth members in their localities seeking treatment for tuberculosis, and those needing diagnostic tests, consultations and even maternity care.
A pre-accreditation survey of the applicant-facility will be undertaken buy the Accreditation Department of the PhilHealth Office nearest the facility. This is to validate the capability of the facility to provide the services under the outpatient, maternity care and DOTS packages.
