PhilHealth, GSK Foundation Present Health Education Modules on UNTV 37 - February 28, 2007
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and GlaxoSmithKline Foundation, Inc. recently oriented city and municipal health officers in the National Capital Region on the different health education modules that were developed under the Family Health and Wellness Program. The project is jointly undertaken by PhilHealth and GSK Foundation to help increase Filipinos' awareness of the more common diseases that affect our fellowmen. Photo shows (L-R) Donald Singzon, PhilHealth Marketing Head for NCR North and Dennis Tuazon, GSK Foundation Projects Officer being interviewed about the orientation by Rolly Gonzalo on the show "Kaagapay" over UNTV 37.
Tuazon presents six of the eleven flyers produced under the FHWP. These were distributed to project sites in the National Capital Region, in Cainta and Taytay in Rizal Province, in the cities of Manila and Quezon, in Ilocos Sur and in Surigao del Sur.
Tuazon explains that the health education modules contain basic information on certain medical conditions like hypertension, cervical cancer, lung cancer, malnutrition among children and pneumonia, as well as on the need to keep a healthy lifestyle. These flyers also relate to the out-patient benefits that PhilHealth provides its Sponsored Program members through accredited health centers and rural health units nationwide.
Gonzalo reads on the flyer on ensuring good nutrition for children. The flyers and posters were developed in cooperation with such partners as Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, the Center for Health Development IV-A, the Quezon City Health Department, and the Manila Health Department.
