PhilHealth Hosts Thanksgiving Party for Media - December 17, 2007
To thank its media partners for the countless column centimeters and airtime that they have devoted to PhilHealth stories this year, the Public Affairs Department recently spearheaded the Christmas Party for print, radio and TV partners at the Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City. The party brought together about 80 attendees, including PhilHealth officers led by Lorna O. Fajardo, PhilHealth Acting President and CEO.
Among the highlights was the awarding ceremonies for the Media Partners of the Year, as well as recognitions for PhilHealth officers most interviewed by media. This year's awardees received the specially-designed figurines and certificates above.
The party was attended by radio personalities like Jay Sonza (left), Station Manager of UNTV 37 and Rey Langit, Station Manager of Radio DWIZ.
Moppet Varlez, Division Chief IV of PAD shares with media partners the highlights of PhilHealth's media efforts for the year. These include the implementation of 15 broadcast placements, launch of the first online advertisement, and sponsorship of media events. The PAD also initiated orientations on the National Health Insurance Program and information desk service in media offices like the Inquirer, Manila Bulletin and Radio DZRH.
The participants got to know one another through the "Beep Beep" game which had them twirling in small circles at the grand ballroom of Hotel Rembrandt. The annual activity of PAD has always included games for media and PhilHealth officers to enable them to interact in a very casual manner.

Baby O'Brien, host of "Serbisyo Muna" on NBN-4 registers upon her arrival at the party venue. She has interviewed several PhilHealth officers on her TV show that focuses on public service and community leadership.
Atty. Guanio (left) and Rodolfo M. Balog, PhilHealth Vice President for NCR Group hand over to Lachica the award and plaque for Philippine Star as Print Media Partner of the Year. The Philippine Star has devoted 1,123 column centimeters for PhilHealth stories and photographs for the year, entitling PhilHealth to publicity savings of almost P500,000.00.
DZBB's Alejandro receives the plaque from Balog. The station has been named Radio Partner of the Year for granting the most number of radio interviews to PhilHealth officers for the year. DZBB is the AM station of GMA Network, Inc.
Jemuel Go, reporter of Radio DZRV, receives the plaque from Balog. The station has been recognized as PhilHealth's Radio Partner of the Year, the second straight year that DZRV has received the citation. Radio DZRV has successfully integrated community service into its regular programming.
Sonza poses with Guanio and Balog as he receives the TV Partner of the Year Award from PhilHealth. The station has granted the most number of interviews to PhilHealth officers on topics ranging from membership concerns, claims, quality assurance, to anti-fraud efforts and collection concerns.
Atty. Guanio receives his plaque and award from Balog. He was named one of two Suki ng Airwaves Awardees for being the PhilHealth Officer most interviewed by media for 2007. He shares the citation with Senior Vice President Dr, Madeleine R. Valera.

Fajardo briefly addressed the media partners and fellow PhilHealth officers then later on joined the group for a photo opportunity.
Balabag views one the pages of the 2008 PhilHealth Corporate Desk Calendar which features the works of editorial cartoonists from leading national newspapers. Also in photo is Marilyn C. Geduspan, Manager of PhilHealth's Special Programs Department.
The editorial cartoons by Roni Santiago of the Manila Bulletin, Nick Pertierra of Malaya, Albert Rodriguez of Inquirer, Miguel de Guzman of Manila Times, Jimbo Albano of Business Mirror and the vector art renditions of PhilHealth's Noc Nisperos were showcased in an exhibit at the ballroom entrance.
