PhilHealth urges members to get their PIN & PEN the soonest! - February 6, 2007
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) today called on members and employers to get their PhilHealth Identification Numbers (PINs) and PhilHealth Employer Numbers (PENs) soonest to facilitate transactions with the government agency.
In a recent interview on "Dear PhilHealth" over Radio dzRH, Gregorio C. Rulloda, Vice President for Membership and Contributions Management Group said that the PINs and PENs are intended to "fasttrack processing of PhilHealth transactions, whether these relate to claims, membership, or contributions." He said that with the implementation of the N-Claims for the Central Office and other Regional Offices, the membership and contributions databases are already connected to the claims database to facilitate eligibility checking. Thus, he said, the PINs and PENs are necessary to significantly reduce transaction time for members and employers.
Rulloda emphasized that there should only be one PIN for each member, otherwise his record will be in disarray, in the same manner that employers must have only one PEN.
"Dito sa National Capital Region, nakita namin na maliit lang ang bilang nung walang PIN. Almost two percent nang nag-a-avail ay wala pang PIN kaya pagka-proseso namin ngayon ng kanilang benepisyo ay binibigyan na namin ng PIN," he said.
The PIN is for lifetime use and need not be changed. PhilHealth advises members and employers that the number should be kept within reach preferably in the cellphone to enable the member to use it anytime the need arises.
At the same time, employers in the private and government sectors to register with the nearest PhilHealth office in their localities for the issuance of their PENs. Employees who have not been issued their PINs yet may coordinate with the Human Resource Departments of their employers so that the appropriate membership registration forms may be processed.
Retirees and pensioners who qualify under the Non-Paying Program are also encouraged to secure their PINs from PhilHealth to ensure hassle-free availment of medical care benefits at any of PhilHealth's over 1,500 accredited facilities nationwide.
Employed members in the National Capital Region who have filled out Form M1a but have not been issued their PhilHealth Number Cards yet may call 637-7680 or 637-6449 for assistance. Similarly, members and employers who have been issued double or multiple PINs or PENs and members who continue to use incorrect PhilHealth numbers are advised to call the above-mentioned numbers or get in touch with any of the 17 PhilHealth Regional and 84 Service Offices nationwide.
