Globe Partners with PhilHealth and Cebu LGU - December 12, 2006

Globe Telecom recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Municipality of Aloguinsan, Cebu and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for the enrollment of indigent families under the Sponsored Program of PhilHealth.

The signing of the MOA was held at the Globe Telecom IT Plaza in Cebu City. The signatories were Jerome M. Yntig (left), Globe Telecom Director for External Affairs; William O. Chavez (right), PhilHealth Assistant Vice President for Region 7 and Aloguinsan Mayor Cynthia G. Moreno (middle). The signing rites were witnessed by Atty. Manuel Gordon of Globe Telecom and Barangay Captain Rizalina Georsua of Poblacion, Aloguinsan.

Globe’s participation in the Sponsored Program of PhilHealth is the first nationwide for the country’s leading telecommunications company. For its pilot activity, it has committed to enroll 300 indigent families in Barangay Poblacion, Municipality of Aloguinsan, Cebu.

Yntig said that Globe Telecom’s health program is part of its corporate social responsibility program to serve in communities where it operates. Should there be encouraging results of the health insurance program Globe plans to enroll more families from the areas where Globe cell sites are found. Globe Telecom’s involvement is the first private corporate sponsorship successfully negotiated by the PhilHealth Regional Office VII.
