Cainta Mayor Distributes PhilHealth ID Cards to 1,793 Families - July 28, 2006
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and Mayor Ramon “Mon” Ilagan of Cainta, Rizal recently distributed 1,793 ID Cards to recipients of the Sponsored Program of PhilHealth. The beneficiaries were selected from the seven (7) barangays of the municipality namely, Sta. Rosa, Sto. Niño, San Roque, San Andres, Sto. Domingo, San Juan and San Isidro through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) headed by Felisa F. Tancingco, RSW. Most of the recipients were senior citizens, unemployed and the less fortunate who need government assistance in times of sickness.
In his inspirational talk, Ilagan mentioned the importance of being a member and having a PhilHealth Number Card especially in times of emergency. He said, “Ako, I trust and I believe na kapag meron tayong hawak na PhilHealth card in cases of emergency at pumunta kayo sa registered na ospital ng PhilHealth, magagamit po ninyo ito at makadiscount kayo ng malaki at kayo ay maaasikaso ng maayos sa ating ospital.” Through the joint efforts of the Local Government Units (LGU) and the national government many Filipinos were given access to quality and affordable health care services.
Ilagan also stressed that, “ako, bilang punong barangay, meron akong responsibility para pangalagaan ang inyong pondo, sa pamamaraan ng good fiscal management, hindi kung saan-saan napupunta ang pondo. Kaya’t nakita namin, dito maganda sapagkat kinakailangan mag-invest tayo, mamuhunan tayo sa ating kalusugan.” He promised to enroll another 400 beneficiaries into the Sponsored Program in his municipality within this year.
