PhilHealth holds Forum with OFW Stakeholders - February 24, 2006
ON March 1, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)
will hold a Forum with organized groups of Overseas Filipino
Workers (OFWs) and stakeholders of its Overseas Workers Program
(OWP) at the Diamond Hotel Philippines in Manila.
Lorna O. Fajardo, Officer-in-charge of the Office of the PhilHealth
President and CEO said that the forum is intended to seek inputs
from OFW organized groups and stakeholders on how to further
enhance the OWP to ensure that it addresses the health insurance
needs of the country’s modern-day heroes.
The accomplishments of the OWP a year after it took over the
administration of the Medicare program for OFWs will be presented
so that the stakeholders are fully apprised of the status of
the program.
A workshop will be done in the afternoon to review the Medium-Term
Development Plan of the OWP. "It is important that
we involve these groups in the formulation of the mid-range
plan of the OWP, especially since they are in constant consultations
with our OFW-members in various countries abroad,"
the PhilHealth Chief noted.
The whole-day activity will also witness the unveiling of the
OWP Handbook which will serve as a pre-departure guide for OFWs.
A first for PhilHealth, the Handbook hopes to provide ready
information to departing OFWs, as well as to their relatives
in the country on the procedures concerning claims filing, membership
renewal, amending members’ data records, among others.
