PhilHealth Breaks Ground for Permanent Home in Quezon City
- September 25, 2003
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) today breaks ground for the construction of its permanent Head Office along East Avenue in Quezon City.
The 1.7-hectare lot, which was acquired from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), is situated between the National Statistics Office’ Serbilis Center and the paved parking lot of the BSP.
PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Francisco T. Duque III said this breakthrough is much-awaited both by PhilHealth members and employees. “It has always been our dream to have our own corporate headquarters to make our services even more accessible and convenient to the more than 40 million members we cater to.”
He said plans are underway to build PhilHealth’s Head Office within a 22,000 square-meter floor area. “The space will eventually house our key offices, from membership data management, claims processing, accreditation to public affairs, quality assurance and program development.”
“We hope to complete the building within two years.” Duque said. He added that at least 30 percent of 8,800 square meters of the said area will be open for commercial lease to ensure a return of investments in the construction project.
Expected to grace the groundbreaking ceremonies today at 9:00 a.m are Executive Secretary Alberto Romulo, Health Secretary and PhilHealth Chair Manuel Dayrit, Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, members of the media and other stakeholders.
