- August 6, 2003
Dr. Francisco T. Duque III, President and CEO of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and Chairman of the Philippine Social Security Association (PHILSSA) organized the first PHILSSA general assembly held at the Holiday Inn Galleria Manila in Ortigas, Pasig.
The Philippine Social Security Association (PHILSSA) is a national organization of institutions, bodies or services administering one or more branches of social security through social insurance, mutual benefit, provident fund, and similar schemes.
This was actively participated in by the Member Agencies of the Association such as: Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Philippine Charity Sweeptakes Office (PCSO), Home Development and Mutual Fund (HDMF), AFP-Retirement and Separation Benefits System (AFP-RSBS), and Oversease WorkersWelfare Administration (OWWA).
Duque said that, “this calls for member agencies collaboration to ensure protection and benefits to members upon the occurrence of a social security contingency.”
Among the highlights of this assembly was a workshop to plan for the first PHILSSA National Convention which will take place on November this year.
