PhilHealth Launches Movement for Quality Health Care - February 14, 2003
THE countrys leading advocates of quality health care are expected to gather at the Mabini Social Hall in Malacañang today to formally launch the Philippine Movement for Quality in Health Care.
The event is in line with the 8th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). It will be attended by health sector representatives particularly from the hospital and medical professional organizations and specialty societies, local and international partner organizations and funding agencies, as well as authorities on quality assurance in health care in the country.
PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Francisco T. Duque III will deliver the State of PhilHealth Address and launch the new accreditation standards for health care institutions. Health Secretary Manuel M. Dayrit, who is also Chair of the PhilHealth Board of Directors, will focus on PhilHealths role in the health sector reform agenda and make some important announcements on future policy directions in the implementation of the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).
Executive Secretary Alberto G. Romulo will also deliver an address and situate PhilHealths achievements in the context of President Gloria Arroyos resolve to alleviate the plight of the masses and address health issues that confront the nation.
A 30-minute video presentation on the milestones in quality assurance in PhilHealth will be shown during the program. This will highlight the history, achievements, ongoing activities and future plans of PhilHealth in the area of quality assurance in health care. Testimonies from authorities in medicine and quality assurance both here and abroad as well as important political figures will be part of the presentation.
A press conference will immediately follow the program.
